TERM 1 sees Year 6 working on Secret Kingdoms as a project.

We will be reading The Lost Island of Tamarind and working on a computer based programme called MYST to encourage creative writing.

Mrs Brennan has taught Myst for sometime now in Year 6, she was so impressed with the writing overall however one in particular  stood out so Mrs Brennan sent an email to Tim Rylands who lead the workshop - he has added it to his blog. PDF of the entry.

We are all very excited about going to Quinta on October 3rd for our week's residential.

As a year 6 community project and thinking about our value of the month, the children came together to paint a communal painting. They designed a simple symbol that represents friendship, repeating and adding it to the huge piece of paper.

We hope to add them  to our outside area on the wall.

Click on the picture link to see where Year 6 will be all week direct from our residential.

OUR DAILY QUINTA BLOG COMING DIRECT FROM SHROPSHIRE...

3rd October - We all arrived in glorious weather, having stopped in Telford for a snack, arriving in Quinta just before lunch.  We sat in the lovely grounds and ate our lunch.  After lunch we had great fun doing various activities with the A+ team. There was a series of six different fun activities where we laughed a lot enjoying the sunshine. We have just sat down to a roast turkey dinner and apple pie and at present the children are finishing un-packing and then coming together outside for some sports games.

We got outside to play some great games in the dark with the team - Last thing before bed we all enjoyed a reflection time with A+ - where we thought about "I am a shepherd" theme. We all had to be sheep and  barrr barrr  a lot. Watch out for our next blog same time same place......

A Quote from their blog:   "To top it all off, to really place the cherry on the cake, the whole group have gone for a wander...in the dark...around the woods...without torches. They will return to drinks lovingly provided by their staff and then be tucked in for a good night's rest to be ready for it all to start again tomorrow..." JLCasey.  A+

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

4th October - What another great day with great weather.  Today was the first day, groups went off to the crag to achieve new heights... everyone  successfully reached the top.  A new climbing record was also set.

Other groups enjoyed mountain biking and some of us enjoyed fencing and water rafting.  Any guesses who this may be equipped up and ready to go?

2 groups went off on a 5 mile walk this afternoon to Wales and back!

The A+ team played football with the children before tea. We have just enjoyed a BBQ and we are off to a night hike in a few minutes after thougth of the day with A+  - with jackets as the weather is cooling down but nothing will stop us.

5th October - Another great day with great weather - the rain held off enough to enjoy another morning of activities: rafting, mountain biking, our whole group art project (which will go in the hall back at school) climbing, fencing and archery.   This afternoon we all came together in the forest to work on our team building skills using the low ropes.  We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughing was echoing around the trees.

This evening we enjoyed roast chicken dinner with chocolate cake for pudding.  At present the children are over in the sports hall enjoying games with A+ before bed time.  What great fun we are all having.

Lots and lots of games!  The children claim the highlight of their week was watching the staff trying, and I stress trying, to have a go on the course!

Enjoying reflection time at the end of night before drinks and bed.

Evening meal time.

6TH OCTOBER - HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE FROM ADVENTURE PLUS.

The weather has been kind enough today to allow us to do the last climb, the last mountain bike challenge, the last water rafting, the last fencing and archery sessions, the final walk to Wales and the last art session which the children have really enjoyed,

After sausage and mash for tea we gathered in the great hall around the fire place to enjoy great company and songs.  The children have all settled  down as we speak, packed in readiness for leaving tomorrow and are all stating they have had a memorable time here at Quinta.

We will be enjoying games in the morning, lunch in the grounds and then making our way back home to you all.  We intend to arrive back at school at around 4.30pm - 5.00pm however we will parent mail you if we are running into traffic on the way.

This is our last blog and we hope you have enjoyed the blog as much as we have enjoyed Quinta. Farewell see you all tomorrow. Mrs M.

Our final mad game called "Blizard" - if you go on the Adventure Plus blog link above you will see the video of the evening game!  A lot of fun with lots of laughs.  Thank you to the fabulous A+ team - you are all gems and we had a great time with you all this week.

Quote from Adventure Plus blog:  "The evening's entertainments included Blizzard. For the uninitiated this requires two large tubs of socks (rolled and stitched to prevent coming loose). Two teams stand either side of a defined line and let loose the socks. Imagine a snowball fight...except with socks. The aim is to finish with fewer socks on your side than the opposing team."

Our indoor campfire madness in the Great Hall.
