WHAT A WAY TO ARRIVE IN STYLE ON YOUR LAST DAY MRS TRIGG.....

THE PRIME MINISTER VISITS THE BLAKE

27th April

Having watched our video message we made with Clare, The Prime Minister dropped in to The Blake School this morning to catch up with all our preparations for the Diamond Jubilee. After meeting with the School Council he watched a mini busker's break time, which included Nat H. playing the french horn, Karolina P. and Maya H. with an excellent display of Irish dancing, and a heart warming rendition of The sun will come out tomorrow by the key stage one choir.  Following an update of our main fundraising project - Small change, Big difference, Mr Cameron talked to year 3 children about The Great British Blake Off. Then a tough question and answer session followed with the school council after which Mr Cameron toured the whole school.  We really appreciate the fact that he spent a lot of time talking to both children and adults and made the morning a very memorable occasion for all. The oldest and the youngest children in the school presented Mr Cameron with presents for his children and some cakes for tea. As he left school year 5 and 6 and the School Council cheered and waved flags.

Goodbye to Andrew Sweeney

On Wednesday 18th January we had a very special occasion at The Blake School which was a mixture of sadness and joy.

After 10 years of wonderful weekly Assemblies with Rev. Andrew Sweeney we sadly said goodbye to him as he leaves for his new Parish in Northern Ireland.

We wish him well and remember all the joy he has brought to us through fun, laughter and times of reflection that have helped us understand more of God’s great love for us.

Immediately after his final Assembly, the whole school shared Andrew’s dedication and blessing of the stunning oak cross in the corner of our field which will be part of an outdoor prayer space.

Mrs. Laithwaite

On Wednesday Andrew took his last school Assembly and we bade him a very fond farewell.  All the children had written or drawn a picture for him which  Mrs. Harwood kindly collated into a beautiful book. Contributions from staff and parents were used to purchase a beautiful picture of The Priory and Langel Common.  We wish him and his family much happiness in Northern Ireland.

Marilyn Trigg
