Term 4 we visit Ancient Egypt.

Roald Dahl Children's Centre - November 2011

To conclude our unit on Roald Dahl, Year 3 visited the Roald Dahl Children's Centre in Aylesbury. This was a fantastic opportunity to explore and learn more about the books that he wrote and about him as an author.

We loved crawling through Fantastic Mr Fox's tunnel, being inside The Twits upside down house, going inside James' Giant Peach and being on television just like the boy in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We also saw some original writing by Roald Dahl which was on yellow paper and written with a yellow pencil because he thought it was lucky after his first book was published.

We also got to make our own BFG dream bottles and put in pictures and colours about our dreams. It was a brilliant day!

Term 3 and 4

During terms 3 and 4 our topic is Ancient Egypt: We will be learning about their beliefs and traditions as well as looking at artefacts and features of the landscape. We have already enjoyed writing our names in hieroglyphics!
Pyramids at Sunset
Year 3 children painted beautiful sunset pictures as part of our work on Ancient Egypt. We colour washed a sunset background, leaving the sun white. Then we used black paint to create the pyramids, trees and camels. They look very effective.

We will also be starting our swimming unit in Term 4 and a letter will shortly be going out about this containing further information.
