"This is a good and improving school. Pupils, parents and carers, with whom it engages well, hold it in high regard..... pupils are eager to learn, enjoy attending and behave well." OFSTED 2011
"This is a happy school where pupils thrive through the encouragement and care of all staff, supported by parents and governors and effective links with the church. Despite the constraints of two buildings the whole school is a vibrant community where everyone has a strong sense of belonging and a unity of purpose, centred on the development of all pupils as individuals and rooted in strong Christian values." SIAS Inspection 2011
Welcome to the website for St Swithun's Church of England Primary School. We hope that you will find the content useful and informative. If you don't find what you are looking for, please feel free to ring the school to ask.
We currently have 10 classes on site: Saplings, our Foundation Stage class for Reception aged and Nursery aged children, three KS1 classes for children aged 6 and 7 and 6 KS2 classes for ages 8 to 11.
All of our children experience a very active learning curriculum which involves day visits in Foundation and KS1 classes and the chance to go on two residential visits in years 4 and 6 in KS2.
Children take part in a range of after-school clubs, music and swimming lessons, cycling proficiency and junior citizen courses. Our younger children also extend their learning with visits to Forest School.
" The good curriculum provides learning activities that are usually challenging and exciting. This motivates pupils to concentrate well in lessons and produce a good amount of work. There are effective links between the different areas of learning so skills learned in numeracy, literacy and information and communication technology (ICT) are developed well in other lessons" OFSTED 2011
We endeavour to engage parents in their children's learning wherever possible and parents are very welcome to work alongside teachers in school.
